The city of Republicans, the fighters of free speech, and the Labin Revolution started by the theologist Matija Vlacic, a pupil of martin Luther, makes Labin historically notable. The mining heart of Istria, and the hard life of the miners, gives this town on the east coast of Istria a special quality. In recent times, the development of the Labin Art Republica project, its inhabitants effuse historical fact and the fight for freedom in their artistic performances. Today, we can marvel at the beautiful loggia and wells in the Renaissance Baroque nucleus of the old town, and take in the view of the horizon above the Kvarner islands.Lying under the rocky cliff where Labin is located is the contemporary summer spot of Rabac with its little pebbly coves.
