Istria has been known as a sailing destination for a long time. The blue sea and comfortable winds allow for the organisation of sailing schools for the youngest in the optimist class, enables a variety of competitions in amateur sailing as well as hosts international tournaments such as the ACI Adris Match Race in Rovinj, where the most famous sailors like Peter Gilmore,Ian Williams and Lars Njordbjerg take part.
